The Crown Jewels

Head to The Lowry to see (or steal) The Crown Jewels

The Crown Jewels is the “hysterical” (The Spectator) new comedy based on the most unbelievable royal caper in British history. Charismatic and unpredictable Colonel Blood, along with a trio of misfits, is planning the greatest heist of all time: stealing the Crown Jewels in plain sight. But reigning monarch Charles II can’t afford a royal scandal, and no King likes people handling their Crown Jewels…

Following its world premiere in the West End, the riotous new comedy is embarking on a mini UK tour, with its regional premiere taking place at The Lowry in Salford.

With an exceptionally star-studded cast including the “King of Comedy” (Sunday Times) Al Murray (The Life of Rock) as Charles II and Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off) “at her comedy peak” (The Independent), this “outrageous” (The Stage) production leaves “the audience howling with laughter” (Daily Express).

This royal comedy also stars Carrie Hope Fletcher, the reigning Queen of the West End, who we interviewed ahead of the regional premiere.

The all-star cast also includes Aidan McArdle (The Duchess, Mr Selfridge), Neil Morrissey (Men Behaving Badly, Waterloo Road), and Joe Thomas (The Inbetweeners, Fresh Meat). They are joined by Tanvi Virmani (The Show Must Go Online) and Adonis Siddique (East is East 25th anniversary production)

Written by BAFTA Award-winning creator of The Durrells and Men Behaving Badly, Simon Nye, and directed by multi-Olivier Award winner Sean Foley (Upstart Crow, The Ladykillers),it would be criminal to miss this raucous royal affair.

The Crown Jewels completed its West End run yesterday. It has its regional premiere at The Lowry (Lyric Theatre) in Salford from September 19 to 23 and tours the UK until October 14.
