Put It Pon Dem: Jsky and Sebastenelli are back with a bang

Jsky and Sebastenelli are back with the infectious Dancehall hit ‘Put It Pon Dem’.

Jsky is one of the most famous faces in Manchester. No event is complete without him on the guestlist!

But he is more than just a socialite and fashionista, who brightens every room he walks into. He’s also a passionate creative who dabbles in a bit of everything.

He is a judge for the Pride of Britain’s Pride of Manchester event, a BBC presenter, and has his own radio show on Gaydio, the world’s biggest LGBTQ+ station. He was also a host for the hit Channel 4 show Naked Beach, which saw initial audiences of over 1.6 million.

He was selected to represent the UK to carry the Queen’s Baton for the Commonwealth Games, a feat he chose to do in heels to “show the power of femininity” and promote “Pride visibility”. He was selected for his contribution to the arts, charity and for inspiring through fashion and the media. He became the first to ever to participate in heels since the first Queen’s Baton Relay in 1958.

He has appeared on This Morning, Gogglebox, and First Dates, and supported artists such as Tom Zanetti, Misha B, and Lady Ice. He features in the number 1 best-selling book Body Happy Kids by Molly Forbes and was accredited as a “Pioneer of Colour” by the LGBT Foundation alongside Lizzo and RuPaul.

He is also a singer-songwriter who has been making music for a decade. It is amazing seeing him grow as an artist, with his sound evolving to reflect changing interests. My personal favourite ‘Jsky’ track is ‘2 Good’, which I loved seeing him perform at Manchester Pride last year.

Safe to say, Jsky could not be more different to his collaborator, Sebastenelli. They differ in appearance, manner, and even music. That’s why it was such a surprise when the two juxtaposing artists collaborated on ‘Things, Pt 2’ (a sequel to Jsky’s ‘Things’) last year. But the fierce, fresh song was such a resounding success that the pair have reunited for another big, bold banger.

The duo debuted ‘Put It Pon Dem’ during Jsky’s annual Manchester Pride set last year. The unsuspecting crowd went crazy for the passionate performance. I have been waiting months for the tantalising track to finally be released – and it sure was worth the wait.

‘Put It Pon Dem’ is a monster of a collaboration that fuses dancehall, hip hop and R&B with expert production and slick lyrics.

The song has since featured on BBC Radio Manchester during a live interview but it will not be released officially until April 11th.

Produced by Billboard #1 and RIAA certified production powerhouse Lou Xtwo (Bad Bunny, Chris Brown, Tory Lanez), and mixed and mastered by gold disc accredited engineer MixedByJocelin (Not3s, AJ Tracey, French The Kid). ‘Put It Pon Dem’ is an affirmative anthem, filled with attitude and a riddim to match.

‘Put It Pon Dem’ comes complete with stunning 4K visuals shot by the award-winning Oliver Brian Productions, famed for producing music videos for artists such as Big Narstie and Just Banco, and celebrity make-up artist Robin “R.A.B.” Booth. The music video features male models Luzino M. Neves and Sam Bowden (who joined Jsky at Manchester Pride last year) and was shot on location at Un.titled Studio, Salford – making it authentically Manchester.

“Woooooooi this tune is fire”

Simone Riley – BBC Radio Manchester

“Dancehall spins into queer culture with allyship…. Only an artist like Jsky could pull this off.”

Mark Fletcher – CEO of Manchester Pride

‘Put It Pon Dem’ premieres on April 11 at 6AM. You can pre-save the song on Spotify.
